CloudSat/TRMM Intersects

Note: CloudSat/TRMM intersect data is currently not available for dates after June 2010. We hope to obtain new intersect data later in 2012.

This display shows intercepts of TRMM and CloudSat. The data files are generated by GSFC and are made available from the DPC as the 2D-CLOUDSAT-TRMM product.

Click a day in the calendar to the right, and then click on one of the color-coded segments on the resulting map to view CloudSat Cloud Profiling Radar (CPR) and TRMM Precipitation Radar (PR) browse images.

Below each intercept is the number of minutes separating the overflights. Positive numbers denote CloudSat in front of TRMM.

There are two ways to get the data. Both require setting up an account on this website if you don't already have one. Data can then be accessed via the online data ordering page or directly accessed via FTP at ftp://ftp1.cloudsat.cira.colostate.edu using your username and password. For FTP server users, the code library has a perl script that can assist in retrieving files from the server.
