This generic FORTRAN application was created to operate on reference and independent data sets where, using the reference geolocation, it will perform data matching, interpolation, or sub-setting on the independent data set. For example, one of the auxiliary data products for the CloudSat mission is the MODIS-AUX product. Using the CloudSat geolocation as the reference data set, MODIS data is matched and subset to the CloudSat ground track. This creates a product that simplifies the use of MODIS data in applications that use CloudSat and MODIS data as inputs. Because the application is generic, it can handle a wide variety of input array sizes and types, facilitating multi-sensor processing and research. AUX data sets free researchers from having to "data mine" other correlative data sources and extract the appropriate time and locations to do their research. These AUX data sets can be requested along with the before mentioned product data through the data distribution system.
