1B-CPR 005: There is no way to calculate the correct range bin heights prior to 7 July

The current (005) and previous versions of the 1B-CPR product do not contain information about the pointing angle of the radar. As a result, the correct range bin heights can't be calculated when using data prior to 7 July when the spacecraft was pointed ~1.7 degrees off-nadir.

1B-CPR 005: DEM_elevation field does not match documentation

The product documentation explains that the DEM_elevation field contains -9999 over ocean. This and previous versions of the product contain 0 over the ocean. -9999 allows this field to be used as a land/sea flag and any code that uses it should replace -9999 with 0 MSL if the land/sea information is not needed.

The product documentation has always listed UTC_start as seconds since 0 UTC, but the file for this product (produced in R00 and R01) had the field in hours since 0 UTC.

1B-CPR 007: Range_to_first_bin quality poor under thick cloud and precipitation

The current algorithm uses the maximum return in the vicinity of the surface to obtain the range to the first bin, however under thick cloud and precipitation there usually isn't a reflectivity max. This results in large errors in the Range_to_first_bin field. Downstream products including 2B-GEOPROF, 2B-CWC-RO, and 2B-CWC-RVOD are affected in these areas.
